Supporting conditions for military tags:
(a) Fee exemption with Common Access Card and
affidavit
from unit commander presented each year.
Additional plates with standard fees.
(b) Fee exemption with VA letter supporting 10% disability rating or more.
(c) License fee of $ 5.00 with VA letter supporting 51% or more disability
rating.
(d) Fee exemption with NG Local Unit Certificate. Alabama Guard only.
Additional plates with standard fees.
(e) Fee exemption with NGB22 or Letter of Retirement. Alabama guard only.
Additional plates with standard fees.
(f) Standard fees with VA Certification (VA office located at 1109 W. Market
St., Phone: 233-6459). An additional $ 3.00 is collected only when metal plate
is issued. Pearl Harbor veteran may present Active Membership Card or
DD214.
(g) Fee exemption and property tax exemption. Additional plates with standard
fees.
(h) Fee exemption with VA Certification (VA office located at 1109 W. Market
St., Phone: 233-6459). Additional plates with standard fees.
(i) Standard fees with DD214 and honorable retirement discharge (NGB22
with 20 years of service for
Alabama guardsmen). An additional $3.00 is collected only when metal plate
is issued. (j) Standard fees with supporting documents noting active
service in the War on Terrorism (DD214 or military assignment orders or letter
from unit commander). Additional plates with standard fees. An additional
$3.00 is collected only when metal plate is issued. Active reservists may claim
one fee exemption for this plate instead of active reservist plate or national
guard plate.
Please note: Most of the military campaign tags are available with disability
parking privileges. Individuals seeking disability parking privileges for the first time must
also
obtain the signature of a licensed physician verifying that the individual
qualifies for the parking credentials prior to receiving them. The Application
for Disability Access Parking Privileges form must be completed by a licensed
physician before a handicap placard and/or handicap license plate is issued for
first-time applicants.
